Nicola Osborne
Nicola Osborne, is an artist developing her artistic style.
Qualifying as an art teacher after her illustration degree, she taught art for 20 years locally.
Nicola is an intuitive painter. She enjoys the emergence of shapes and marks. Her work is often based on the natural world. The use of colour is integral to her work. She makes paintings that create reactions to the play of colour combinations and their effects on the viewer.
She is currently working in a more loose, painterly way with layers of glazes, textures and shapes. Recently, her painting is based on recollections and memories. The language of overlapping and intersecting forms she employs, allows a degree of intricacy and interest in the marks made. Her paintings are firmly rooted in the connections to location.
Nicola has used the repetition of symbols and shapes to create an abstract world. This aligned with her use of strong, bold or bright colour, creates an immersive world.
