Emma Emerson
Hello, my name is Emma Emerson and I am the owner of Keepsakes and Portraits. I am a realism artist, specialising in pet, wildlife and human portraiture. I create drawings using coloured pencils, soft pastels and graphite pencils.
I created my business because of my passion for drawing and the natural world. I get so much satisfaction every time I create a drawing and I wanted to create a business where I can share my passion to the world and capture memories for people that will remain as keepsakes forever. Drawing portraits allows me to bring a special pet or person from hiding in a phone or photo box and bring them to life by capturing their essence on paper. The hand drawn portraits I create allows their personality to live on through art by bringing the human touch that photographs cannot portray. Whether a special pet or person is still around today or not, I take so much pride in celebrating their life by working with clients to connect them with their special pet/person by either helping them engage positively with the bereavement process or to be more present with them if they are still around today. I truly believe that art is a powerful emotive tool to depict emotions and feelings that I can make accessible for my clients by providing an emotional transformation from when they look at the drawing, to connecting them to a special memory or feeling of their loved one.
As well as doing custom drawings I also love to draw wildlife, ever since I was a little girl I have always loved watching nature programs and pretending I was there with the cameraman to just watch the animals in their natural habitat. I would have given anything to have David Attenborough's job. But this was not meant to be and instead of me being in their world, I have brought their world to me by bringing the wildlife to life on paper.
